Youth held in Malkangiri college sexual assault case

Malkangiri: Police today arrested a youth in connection with the allegation of sexual harassment inside a college campus in Gobindapali under Mathili police limits of Malkangiri district.

The arrested youth is being interrogated at the Mathili police station whereas two other accused are reportedly absconding.

According to a complaint filed with the Maithili police of the district, three non-students took a Plus II girl of the college to a room, stripped her naked and video-recorded the whole incident on their mobile phones on November 7. As per the complaint, the trio had also threatened and assaulted teacher Ajay Sutar, who came to the survivor’s rescue.

Meanwhile yesterday, relatives of the girl alleged that teacher Ajay Sutar is threatening them to withdraw the case. Reacting to the allegations, the teacher refuted the charges and said he does not know anything about the incident and was teaching students in a class at that time.

On the other hand, the girl has approached the district Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to make arrangements for her study in another college.
