Jeypore: Male partner of a couple hung himself to death from a ceiling fan in G.Rautput village in Dasamantpur of Korpaut district today after being tormented in public by his family members for running away with a young woman of different caste.

Though the youth along with the female partner had attempted to commit suicide by hanging themselves from the roof ceiling, the young woman luckily survived as the rope, in which she tied her neck, unfastened.

The suicide bid survivor was rushed to the nearby hospital and currently she is fit and fine.

The deceased, identified as Jadu Muduli of G.Rautput village, was in love with the young woman of the same village. But family members of both the young man and woman were opposing the relationship as Jadu, a Class IX student, was from Paraja community whereas the female partner belongs to Gauda community.

Jadu ran away with the female lover, who is aged 18, on the day of her marriage with another person and came back to G.Rautput after four days.

Out of rage, family members of the young woman, who were opposing the relationship from the very beginning, beaten up both the couple mercilessly on the road village following their return to G.Rautput.

At Jadu’s house, where the youth and female partner stayed after being humiliated and beaten up on the village road in the day time, the dejected couple had decided to end their lives.

Meanwhile, the Koraput Sadar Police have registered an unnatural death case and launched a probe into the suicide matter.
