Youth electrocuted while plucking flower

Nayagarh: In a tragic incident, a youth was electrocuted while plucking flower at Khandapada block colony here on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Khirod Acharya.

According to sources, someone has allegedly connected the plant with live wire to restrict flower theft. Khirod came in contact with the plant while plucking flowers from the tree and died on the spot, sources added.

Irate over the incident, the locals staged a road blockade by placing the dead body on Nayagarh-Khandapada road. Besides, locals also handed over Krushna Patnaik, a driver of Khandapada block, to police suspecting his hand behind the incident.

Police has started an investigation into the matter.
