Youth drowns in sea at Puri

Puri: A youth downed while taking bath in the Puri sea near the Panthanivas today.

Source said Sunil Dakua (23), a resident of Gajpati district, was taking bath with his friends in the sea after undergoing parasailing training at the beach in the morning. He was later swept away by a sudden tidal wave. Though life members launched a search operation, they could not trace him.

Fire brigade official Sushant Kumar Sahu said, “After getting information from parasailing instructor Rabindar Kumar Bhoi, a team rushed to spot and conducted a search operation in the sea for more than an hour. But, the youth could not be traced.”

In another incident, some engineering students were rescued by life members while were being drowned near the Zone-I Digabareni Khunti (weather pole).
