Cuttack: Vehicular movement on the Jobra bridge here was disrupted on Sunday morning as locals staged a road blockade by placing the body of a youth, who allegedly died of dengue while undergoing treatment at SCB medical college and hospital, on the road.

The deceased has been identified as Trinath Behera (21) of Station Bazaar area in Jagatpur.

According to sources, Behera who worked as a daily labourer, was suffering from fever since last few days. Suspecting he is suffering from dengue, his family members admitted him to SCB medical college on Saturday night.

But Behera died at around 4 am on Sunday while undergoing treatment at the government-run hospital. Following his death, his family members alleged that he died due to medical negligence and staged a road blockade demanding compensation.

Bhubanananda Moharana, emergency officer of SCB medical college and hospital said, “The exact reason behind the death is unknown. It can be ascertained after completion of the investigation.”
