Youth critical in deadly attack over past enmity

Khurda: A youth suffered critical injuries after being attacked with sharp weapons by two persons at Tirimal village under Jatani police limits late on Tuesday night.

The victim identified as Anam Sahu was initially rushed to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition worsened.

As per information, one Tiki Jena, along with his uncle Dija hacked Anam's legs and hands with swords.

Tiki had a love affair with a girl few years earlier but dumped her. After Anam protested and came in support of the girl, Tiki had to marry her. The development had led to enmity between Anam and Tiki, said sources.

"Both Tiki and his uncle attacked me and hacked my hands and legs since I came out in favour of the girl, who he had to marry. He holds me responsible for getting him married to a girl of a different caste," Anam said.
