Youth chased, attacked over suspected political rivalry in Athgarh

Cuttack: The ongoing political rivalry between two groups took a violent turn after a youth was chased and attacked with sharp weapons by his opponents at Sasang village of Gurudijhatia in Athgarh on Monday.

The youth Shivaram Rout was attacked by four to five miscreants of the same village, minutes after he had left home around 8 am today.

The visuals of the miscreants violently attacking Rout have also been captured on camera. Rout has sustained injuries on head, hands and other parts of his body.

Though the exact reason behind the brutal attack is still unclear, it is suspected that Rout was attacked over past political rivalry which has been reportedly continuing between the two groups from the last panchayat election.

Rout was rescued by villagers who then rushed him to the hospital.

Meanwhile, keeping in view the palpable tension, adequate police force has been deployed to maintain law and order in the village.
