Bhubaneswar: To ensure hassle-free traffic and better intra-city transport service, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the World Resources Institute (WRI) India.

“Initially we will focus on four sectors such as public transport through city buses, ‘Street for All’ or ‘Complete Street Programme’ (safety measures on main roads for pedestrians and cyclists which will be implemented through Urbs programme), road safety awareness and vehicle parking area,” BDA vice-chairman Dr Krishan Kumar told media persons after signing the MoU.

Housing and Urban Development minister Pushpendra Singhdeo said the focus will be primarily on urban mobility in Bhubaneswar.

WRI India, which was recently empaneled as a national training institution for urban planning by the Ministry of Urban Development, has been leading capacity building initiatives under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). It conducts a series of intensive residential workshops and training to upgrade the skills of urban local bodies (ULBs) and introduce them to best practices in urban development solutions.
