Bhubaneswar:  Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today exhorted the elected Panchayat representatives of Jharsuguda and Nabarangpur districts to work hard for development of the people and the villages.

After reviewing the BJD's panchayat poll performance in both the districts at a meeting here, the Chief Minister advised the elected representatives to remain with the people and work hard for development of the villages.

Addressing mediapersons after the meeting, the CM said,“I advised the Panchayat representatives to follow up the development programmes and welfare scheme of the state government.”

Replying to a question on fielding a united candidate for the ensuing presidential elections, Patnaik said it is too early to comment as names of the candidates have not been announced.

Besides the elected representatives, two senior party leaders from both the districts, including Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi also joined the meeting.

Majhi said many issues of Nabarangpur district were raised in the meeting. “The chief minister reviewed the performance of BJD in the recently-concluded panchayat polls in the district. The elected representatives discussed on many issues like development of irrigation and farm loan waiver. The CM assured them that the issues will be solved,” Majhi stated.
