Besides, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday felicitated Moneka for her achievement and also interacted with her. In his tweet, Pradhan stated that Moneka has broken the myth and proved that with determination girls like her can succeed irrespective of their financial and social background.

“Confident that she will serve as an ideal to millions of tribal girls. Given the right opportunities these girls will do wonder for Country,” Pradhan tweeted.

Moneka, a resident of Malhar Mankedia Basti under Ranhasal panchayat in Jajpur district, is the first girl from the Mankedia tribe to clear the HSC examination. With this, she has set an example for all tribal girls in the district and the state. Moneka is a student of Shramashakti High School at Tisco colony under Sukinda block in the district.

Mankidias are a semi-nomadic primitive tribal group (PTG) staying in the dense forests of Mayurbhanj district in Odisha.
