Bhubaneswar: The 4-member team of Women's Motor-Bike Expedition that had started from February 11 in Hyderabad, with an aim to promote exchange tourism to UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India, received a grand welcome in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

Besides, projecting the image of India as a safe destination for women travelers, the expedition will also help in promoting adventure tourism in Odisha. It is being supported by the Union Ministry of Tourism and Odisha's Tourism Department.

Led by Ms Jai Bharathi, the first woman to win the GoUNESCO Challenge in 2012, the team will be visiting 19 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in five nations.

The team has already covered the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh before reaching to Odisha. From here on they will visit West Bengal and Manipur before crossing over in the South Asian and ASEAN regions of Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Indian states of Nagaland, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra will be covered by the team during their return journey.

The team will also record their journey to the tourist destinations in the above States and provide it to the Union Ministry of Tourism for the Incredible India campaign.

Odisha is also hopeful that the expedition will help in promotion of tourism and tourism products in the State.
