Berhampur: At a time when the whole world was celebrating International Women's day, a couple of incidents of women being subjected to violence came in from Ganjam and Bolangir districts.

Sources said, in a mobile theft incident, a tribal woman of Paradhiapalli village under Bolangir Sadar police limits was allegedly beaten up by some villagers and was paraded on the streets after cutting her hair.

The victim's father has lodged a complaint with the local police demanding action against the persons involved in the incident. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case and started investigation into the matter.

Similarly, in another incident in Ganjam district, the Inspector-In-Charge of Gangapur police station severely thrashed a woman of Sanaborasing village while she had gone to settle a case. The injured woman was admitted to Bhanjanagar hospital and reports said she has got fractures in her hand.
