Bolangir: Mystery shrouds the death of a woman and her two children whose bodies were recovered from their house at Kapani village under Belapada block of Bolangir district on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as as Sunita Rana, seven-year-old Lisa and two-year-old Lokesh.

According to reports, bodies of Sunita and her two children were found hanging inside their house. The incident occurred when Sunita’s husband had gone to the forest to collect firewood.

“Everything was all right till I went to the forest to collect firewood. But, when I returned my wife and children were found hanging in the house,” said Sunita’s husband, Bhikari Rana.

Though the exact reason behind the deaths is unclear, it is suspected that Sunita killed the two children and later committed suicide.

Sources said, Sunita might have resorted to such extreme over abject poverty or after some family quarrel with her husband.

Meanwhile, the bodies have been sent for post mortem and further investigation in connection with the incident is on, said a senior police official.
