Woman trampled to death by elephant in Athagarh

Athagarh: In a tragic incident, a woman was trampled to death by an elephant at Saniamuhan village under Khuntuni forest range on Thursday morning.

According to sources, the incident took place when the woman was coming out of her house. The pachyderm dragged her outside the house before trampling her to death. She died on the spot.

Irate over the incident, locals stage a road blockade on Nation Highway-55 near Orada demanding compensation to the family members of the deceased.

Besides, they also blocked Cuttack-Sambalpur road by burning tyres near Paikerapur bring vehicular movement to a grinding halt.
