Woman Maoist killed in exchange of fire with SOG  

Kandhamal: A woman Maoist cadre was killed and a Special Operations Group (SOG) Jawan injured in an exchange of fire in a forest near Badakhama in Kandhamal district on Sunday.

The deceased was a member of Kalahandi Kandhamal Boudh Nayagarh (KKBN) division of outlawed CPI (Maoist) organization.

The police recovered a .303 rifle and 13 rounds of live bullets from her possession. While the injured SOG Jawan has been shifted to the MKCG Medical in Berhampur, the dead body of the Maoist was sent to  Phulbani medical for post mortem amidst tight security. However, the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, the combing operation of the SOG Jawans is still going on in the area, said SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra.
