Woman jumps to death before train with daughter

Baripada: Family disturbances led a woman to end her life along with her one and a half-year-old daughter by jumping to death in front of a train. The shocking incident occurred on Thursday evening near Kuchei railway station, close to Baripada. The bodies of the deceased were recovered near Palasabani village.

The woman has been identified as Lisa Singh of Takatpur in Baripada. Lisa was the second wife of Khakan Dalei.

According to sources, Lisa jumped in front of the Balasore-Baripada DMU along with her daughter. They were spotted by nearby villagers much later. After discovering the bodies, the villagers called Lisa’s family members and informed them about the incident. After getting the news, Lisa’s brother and her brother-in-law arrived at the spot.

Sources suspect family disturbances to be the reason behind Lisa’s extreme step.
