Woman, daughter killed as Tavera falls off bridge

Bonai: In a tragic accident, a woman and her daughter were killed and four others sustained critical injures when the Tavera SUV in which they were travelling lost control and fell off from the Birtola bridge near Bonai under Lahunipada police limits here on Saturday.

While the daughter has been identified as Charati Das, the name of the mother is yet to be ascertained. All occupants of the vehicle have been identified as residents of Gopabandhupalli Timber colony in Rourkela.

According to sources, the incident took place in the wee hours today when the SUV carrying six persons was on its way to Rourkela from Berhampur.

The ill-fated vehicle lost control and fell off the bridge causing the death of the duo on the spot and injuring four other persons travelling in it, the sources added.

All the injured were first rushed to Bonai hospital and later shifted to Rourkela hospital, the sources informed.
