Woman critical after croc attack

Kendrapara: A woman sustained grievous injuries after being attacked by a crocodile in Debanarayanpur village under Rajnagar block of the district here on Saturday.

According to sources, the woman, Bhabani Mandal had gone to graze cattle when she was suddenly attacked by a crocodile near the banks of Bainsagada River.

Local people rushed to the spot after hearing screams of the woman. Critically injured, Bhabani was rescued and rushed to the Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment.

The woman has sustained injuries in her hands, neck and back. She is reportedly out of danger, sources said.

“While getting the cattle herd back from the fields, a crocodile attacked me from behind and dragged me into the river. I was terribly frightened but managed to escape from its shackles soaked in blood,” narrated Bhabani.
