Woman beaten to death; 2 held for sorcery

Jagatsinghpur: A woman has been beaten to death while sorcery was allegedly being performed on her near Balia square in Kujang of Jagatsinghpur district. The dead body was recovered this morning.

The Kujang police have detained a woman and her daughter in this connection and are interrogating them.

According to sources, the deceased woman was mentally-challenged and the two accused were roped in to cure her. It is alleged the duo beat the woman to death while performing sorcery on her.

“Investigation is on. We can comment on the matter only after the probe is over,” said a police official.
