Woman attempts self immolation in front of Collector, SP

Bhubaneswar: Harried over police inaction in tracing her daughter who has been missing since last 50 days, a woman attempted self immolation in front of collector and SP during a grievance hearing in Bhadrak.

The shocking incident was reported at the joint grievance hearing camp and took everyone by surprise.

According to reports, Bilasini Patra of Dihudi under Dhamnagar police limits tried to set herself on fire after pouring kerosene.

Patra alleged that she has been moving from pillar to post seeking assistance from police and district administration officials in tracing her daughter who is missing for the last two months.

Patra further alleged that her daughter has been abducted while police officials have not taken any step in connection with the incident.

"I have been moving places to seek justice. But so far no action has been taken on my complaint," said Patra.

Bhadrak Collector, Gyana Das informed that the woman had turned up at the grievance hearing and police is investigating the matter.

SP Anup Sahu on the other hand stated that based on the complaint filed by the woman at Dhamnagar police station, a case has already been registered and investigation is on.
