Cuttack: Acting on the decision of the Odisha government, Director General of Police (DGP) KB Singh has asked all district superintendents of police to withdraw cases against fake beneficiaries who had fraudulently obtained ration cards.

Talking to media persons here today, Singh said as per the order issued by the State Police Headquarters, the SPs have been asked to close 6786 cases in different police stations by September 25.

“As per the order, instructions have been given to the SPs not to initiate any criminal cases against the fake beneficiaries, who have violated Orissa Public Distribution System (Control) Order, 2016, till September 25. However, police would take action against these beneficiaries after the expiry of deadline on September 30 after taking necessary approval from the concerned authorities,” the DGP added.
