Cuttack: Secretary of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) Asirbad Behera today said he would not contest the OCA elections henceforth as per the directive of the Supreme Court.

The announcement of Behera came hours after the apex court accepted the Lodha Committee recommendation.

“As per the recommendation of the Lodha Committee, I would not contest the OCA elections henceforth as I am over 70 years of age,” Behera, told media persons here.

Stating that no one is above the institution, he said whatever decision the Lodha Committee has taken, is for the betterment of cricket.

He said the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will convene a special general meeting (SGM) very soon after which OCA will have its council meeting.

“As per the BCCI guidelines, 170 members of OCA will select their representative,” he said, adding he would continue to lend his support to cricket.
