Bhubaneswar: The Congress today launched a scathing attack on the State Government alleging partiality on the part of the State Government in implementation of the recently-launched Khusi scheme to provide sanitary napkins ‘free of cost’ to girl students across the State.

In response to Health Minister Pratap Jena's statement in the State Assembly mentioning that the scheme will benefit girl students from Class-VI to Class-XII of only Government-aided schools, Congress MLA Bhujabal Majhi questioned that if the State Government would make arrangements to provide sanitary napkins to girls studying in both aided and non-aided schools.

During Question Hour, Congress MLA Bhujabal Majhi said, "Around 2,67,400 girls are studying in non-aided schools while many of the 51 schools for children with disabilities are yet to be get govt-aided status. Would the state government include girl students of these schools under the scheme?"

On the other hand, BJD MLA Sameer Das also questioned as to whether the State Government would take steps to provide sanitary napkins to girls who are not even enrolled in schools.

In reply, Jena said the State Government has not taken any such decision yet.
