New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Process for facilitation of WiFi services in all gram panchayats of the country has begun, said Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Telecom Manoj Sinha today while replying to a query from Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda in the Lok Sabha.

Sinha said, “The Telecom ministry has already been allocated funds by the Finance Ministry for installation of WiFi hotspots in all the gram panchayats under the Bharat Net project.”

He added, “Minimum two hotspots will be provided in the panchayats where fibre optic networks have been laid.”

While thanking Sinha for the Telecom Ministry’s decision to provide fibre optic connectivity in Kendrapara villages by March-end in the first phase, the BJD MP wanted to know when the last mile WiFi connectivity would be available in the country.
