Khurda: In a shocking incident, a widow was forced to pay bribe to get the post mortem report of her son at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Khurda.

As per sources, Kataki Bewa, a resident of Mansingpur village in Khurda, had given some prawn, crabs and Rs 8,000 to sweeper Jagu Dalei to get the post mortem report of her son, who was murdered on March 9, 2017.

However, when Kataki demanded her money back Dalei threatened to kill her.

The incident came to light after Kataki described her ordeal in front of the camera and Dalei accepted his crime during interrogation.

"He asked for money saying he will give it to the doctor, so I gave him the money. Though, he has returned some money, I asked him to return the full amount. When I told him that I am very poor and want my money back, he tried to beat me up," said Kataki.

"She is saying that I have taken Rs 8000. I had paid her Rs 5,500 back to keep her mouth shut and also gave back the rest Rs 2500 today," said Dalei.

Meanwhile, the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) has assured a probe into the incident and action against the persons responsible.
