Bhubaneswar: In a major development in the 'Wedding Gift Blast' case, police today recorded the statement of the critical bride undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

As per sources, Patnagarh police recorded the statement of the newly-wed bride under Section 161 CrPC in presence of the magistrate and logged it for future reference. Reportedly, the woman Rina Rani Sahu is undergoing treatment at the plastic surgery ward of SCB.

Meanwhile, expediting probe into the case, Bolangir SP K.Siva Subramani today informed that police have got vital clues in relation to the incident and the accused will be nabbed soon.

Subramani revealed this after the two investigating teams returned Odisha following probe in Bengaluru and Raipur.

Earlier on February 20, two persons including the groom Soumyasekhar of Bholanathpada and his grandmother were killed while his wife sustained severe burn injuries after the parcel sent to them in the form of a marriage gift exploded.

All the three were initially rushed to Patnagarh hospital and later shifted to Bolangir hospital where the elderly woman succumbed. Soumyasekhar died while being shifted to Burla.

The parcel was dispatched to the couple as a ‘marriage gift’ from Raipur of neighbouring Chhattisgarh through Skyking courier services. Later, it was found that one RK Sharma of Raipur had dispatched the parcel. However, it is being verified whether the sender used his real or fake identity.
