Bhubaneswar: Police seems to be groping in dark in connection with the wedding gift blast incident in which two persons including a newly-wed groom were killed four days back in Bolangir's Patnagarh.

Moreover, Raipur's Skyking courier that had received and later delivered the 'killer parcel' at the house of the deceased Soumyasekhar Sahu is now in the dock.

It appears that the standard operating procedures (SOP) regarding a proper check before receipt of consignment, collecting information about sender as well as attaching the declaration as prescribed under the inter-state courier norms were not followed by the company.

The deceased Soumyasekhar's family is also suspecting the nexus of few staff of the courier agency as several norms were blatantly violated while acceptance and delivery of the killer parcel.

It may be recalled that Soumyasekhar, his grandmother Jenamani and wife Rinarani were severely injured while opening the parcel that was received as a marriage gift on February 23.

Soumyasekhar and Jenamani died while undergoing treatment at Burla hospital the same day while Rinarani, who sustained nearly 36 percent burn injuries in the explosion, was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital yesterday.

Preliminary police probe revealed that one RK Sharma from Raipur had sent the parcel to Soumyasekhar.

According to reports, the parcel which was received by deceased Soumyasekhar was dispatched by the sender on February 16 and it had reached the Skyking courier's branch in Bolangir on February 19 following which it was delivered at the mentioned address on February 23.
