Cuttack: The Crime Branch on Thursday claimed that Bolangir police has made rapid progress in connection with the Patnagarh wedding gift blast case in which two persons including newly-wed Soumyasekhar and his grandmother were killed in February.

Crime Branch SP Radha Binod Panigrahi today asserted that “Bolangir police is conducting a detailed investigation into the mysterious parcel bomb and a lot of progress has been made.”

Without divulging much information in connection with the developments, Panigrahi revealed that the Crime Branch is only providing all technical assistance to Bolangir police regarding cyber forensics.

At present a joint investigation is being conducted by Crime Branch and Bolangir police to crack the case.

Sources said the investigating team is now reviewing the social media accounts of Soumyasekhar as he had allegedly deleted his Facebook account after changing his job some one year back.

Earlier yesterday, wife of deceased Soumyasekhar had appealed Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for stern action against those involved in the incident.

Reema is presently undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital and it was only after a gap of almost 25 days that she learnt about her husband’s death in the parcel bomb explosion.

Earlier, Reema’s husband Soumyasekhar and his grandmother were killed while unwrapping a parcel that the newly-wed couple had received as wedding gift on February 23.
