Bhubaneswar/Bolangir: Investigations into the 'Wedding Gift Blast' case took a new turn today after the father of the deceased groom Soumyasekhar Sahu claimed that his son had received a strange phone call threatening of dire consequences if he marries the woman, Rina Rani Sahu.

The matter actually came to the fore after one of Soumyasekhar's relatives Pappu revealed about the phone call before the police during interrogation yesterday night.

Hints of failed one-sided love affair surfaced soon after Soumya's father Rabindra Kumar Sahu spoke to OTV about the untold incident that had occurred last year in March when Soumya was in Bengaluru, days before the duo got engaged.

He also stated that the call they had received was from an unknown number and was in Odia language.

Bolangir police yesterday detained two persons of Boudh district suspecting strong connections between them and the mysterious parcel bomb blast case.

Two days ago, police had also recorded the statement of the newly-wed woman under Section 161 CrPC in presence of the magistrate. Reportedly, the woman Rina Rani Sahu is undergoing treatment at the plastic surgery ward of SCB.

Earlier on February 23, two persons including the groom Soumyasekhar of Bholanathpada and his grandmother were killed while his Rina sustained severe burn injuries after the parcel sent to them in the form of a marriage gift exploded.

All the three were initially rushed to Patnagarh hospital and later shifted to Bolangir hospital where the elderly woman succumbed. Soumyasekhar died while being shifted to Burla.
