Bhubaneswar: Amid media reports that the official website of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) was hacked by some miscreants, officials of the institution on Tuesday rejected the reports.

Talking to OTV, BPUT vice-chancellor Shyam Sunder Pattnaik said it is due to payment dispute with the company in charge of the website maintenance.

“The website is not at all hacked. From primary investigation it appears to be the handiwork of the company responsible for maintaining the website. Since there is some payment dispute with the company, we believe it is due to that only,” Pattnaik said.

“We will take immediate steps to solve this issue as soon as possible,” he stated.

Earlier media reports stated that the website was hacked with ‘IIS7’ written on BPUT's landing webpage.

Besides, ‘internet information services’ was mentioned below the ‘IIS7’ message. Some messages were also written in different global languages on the page.

In January last year, the website was hacked by an unidentified man who claimed himself as “don” and posted obscene messages on it. A case was also registered under the Information Technology Act, 2000 at Khandagiri police station in this regard.
