Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Department here issued a thunderstorm warning for nine districts of Odisha and advised people to remain alert till 8 pm today.

As per the latest forecast, thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind reaching a speed of 50 to 60 kmph is likely to occur in Rayagada, Kandhamal, Koraput, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Sambalpur and Bhadrak districts.

It may be noted here, on Sunday, during Nor'wester rains in Hatibari area of Sundargarh district, one Surendra Sunani died after a tree fell on his car. Surendra was parking the car when the tree got uprooted and fell on his car leading to his death.

A considerable fall in temperature has been recorded in several parts of the State today, including coastal Odisha due to the Nor’wester rains lashing many places in last couple of days. However, the mercury level in Titlagarh, Malkangiri and Sonepur districts crossed 40 degree Celsius on Sunday.

The MeT department had earlier predicted, except in one or two places, the day temperatures will fall across the State till May 4 and likely to increase from May 5.
