Bhubaneswar: After reeling under heat wave conditions for over a week now, people have some reason to be happy as the Regional Meteorological Department has issued thunderstorm warning for 15 districts on Friday.

As per the latest bulletin, thunderstorm accompanied with strong gusty winds is likely to hit several parts of Odisha between 4 pm and 8 pm today.

An alert has also been issued in this regard for Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Angul, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Khudra, Koraput and Boudh districts.

"Latest doppler weather radar and satellite images indicate that the thunderstorm accompanied by hail is likely to occur in several parts of the State. People have been advised to remain alert as gust surface wind reaching a speed of up to 50 to 60 KMPH is also likely to occur," said a senior official of the regional met department.

Meanwhile, normal life in several parts of the State has been adversely affected following intense heat wave condition.

Sonepur and Titlagarh recorded highest temperature of 41 degree Celsius on Thursday.
