Rourkela: Heavy rains and water-logging on the rail tracks near Rourkela station disrupted train services for quite sometimes on Monday, causing inconvenience to hundreds of commuters.

Passengers had a tough time at the station as three express trains and some other local passenger trains were halted for at least three hours when the tacks remained submerged due to incessant rains throughout last night.

The rain water overflowed on the tracks near the station forcing Puri-Hatia Tapaswini Express, Ahmedabad express and Gitanjali express to halt for hours. Some local passenger trains also did not leave for their destination in time.

Commuters held railway department responsible for the inconvenience. They alleged that the authorities failed to take adequate measures to monitor the rain water on tracks.

However, Station officials swung into action and discharged the over flowing water following which the train service resumed.
