Water supply to country spirit unit opposed in Boudh

Boudh: Tension prevailed at Rambhakati village following a clash between police and locals during a demonstration against a country spirit unit in Boudh here on Thursday.

The incident occurred after police tried to prevent villagers, who were opposing the supply of Mahanadi water to the spirit factory. The locals opposed the factory alleging that it will adversely affect the environment.

"We are opposing the plant as our lives and environment will get affected," said Kabita, a protestor.

Meanwhile, police have arrested 28 people in connection with today's clash and unrest in the area.

We have deployed three platoons of police force to maintain law and order," said Boudh SDPO  S. Tiga.
