Cuttack: Water-logged at Badambadi bus stand has been a matter of concern for Cuttack denizens and travellers since one month. The road to the bus stand is always submerged in knee deep water.

"Badambadi is water-logged since many days for which people are finding it difficult to stand here and to commute. Passengers coming by bus have to get down into the water," said a passenger identified as Pankaj Kumar Mahant.

Auto rickshaw drivers are also facing serious issues to run their business as it is their parking place. The root of the issue was found to be the water coming from a public toilet, situated adjacent to the Badambadi police station.

Talking to OTV, Secretary of Cuttack Auto Mahasangha, Sailin Dhal, said, "All the water is coming from the public toilet situated beside Badambadi. We had closed the water flow of the toilet few days back but the water that remained here has turned the place into a sewer. Nobody is taking step even after repeated requests."

Mayor of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Minakshi Behera, however said that water from the area will be removed by help of a motor and the drains and drainage system of the toilet will be repaired as a permanent solution to the issue.

Behera, talking to OTV, said, "A new drain work has been undertaken at Badambadi. I have already instructed the Executive Engineer (EE), motor will be used for draining the water and steps will be taken to divert the water coming out of the public toilet. The EE will submit a report regarding the proceedings of the work to me."
