Bhubaneswar: UPA's Vice Presidential candidate Gopalkrishna Gandhi will call on Members of Parliament from BJD on Tuesday and request them to cast votes in his favour during the Vice Presidential polls on August 5.

The ruling BJD has asked its MPs to remain present during the meeting with Gandhi at New Delhi and pledge their support.

While on one hand the BJD had voted in favour of the new President, Ram Nath Kovind, who was the NDA's pick for the July 17 presidential election but this time it has gone for the Opposition's pick by declaring to support UPA's nominee Gandhi.

Earlier BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had declared about his party's unwavering support to Gandhi who was unanimously selected to vie for the ceremonious post after 18 political parties under united Opposition led by Congress gave their consent on July 11. He will rally up against the ruling NDA’s nominee Venkaiah Naidu.
