Baripada: The family of Bartana village under Rasagobindpur block in Mayurbhanj district has finally broken its silence revealing that it was not witchcraft that forced them to a self-inflicted silence.
Revealing the reason behind the family's vow of silence, the elder son of the family Pradeep Ram said the family lost its entire savings in the multi-crore chit fund scam.
Adding to the woes, in a few days, Pradeep lost his father Subarna. But all didn't end here. His sister soon returned to home with her daughter after husband's death. All of it shook the entire family and pushed them to an unbearable and unexplainable pain.
"Their pain can't be explained. They were not speaking with anyone. We are really happy that they have broken their silence," said a native villager Ganeswar Ram.

The family, comprising four members, has now been sent back to their home after check up at Baripada hospital. Their mental condition is said to be stable now.
"Relatives of the family are now coming to meet them. I have assured them of all possible help," said former sarpanch of the village Chandan Kumar Ram.
Earlier on August 8, the family was rescued with the help of the villagers. The family had stopped all its activities like agriculture work, sending their child to school and usual sundry works for years.
