Bhubaneswar: Celebrating the spirit of nationalism and patriotism, thousands of school children from in and around Bhubaneswar gathered at the OUAT Stadium at Siripur to recite National Song ‘Vande Mataram’ today morning in the 2nd Voice of Unity event.

More than 25000 students were present at the venue with their teachers and other staff from their schools in this grand event organised by Initiative for Moral and Cultural Training Foundation (IMCTF), Odisha. This celebration of unity in diversity of India was attended by many well known personalities and retired army personnel including Major General G.D. Bakshi who was the major attraction in the ceremony.

“The main aim today is to instil the moral values and nationalism those are not taught in schools nowadays. The students are gathered here to get motivated and know the importance of these values,” said General Secretary of IMCT Foundation, Odisha Anil Dhir.

Speaking on the occasion General Bakshi recollected his memories from the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and motivated the students with his inspiring words of nationalism.

General Bakshi said, “I am glad to see this initiative in this sacred land of Kalinga to motivate the school students to go for the armed forces.”

School students found this event very interesting and inspiring. They took oath to work for the betterment of the nation and keep the ethical, cultural and moral values of the country in their future.

“We are feeling very happy to be here and recite our National Song together. Despite the heat and bright sunshine we are enjoying this celebration here,” said Srusti Mahapatra, student.

Before the mass recitation of the National Song, students enjoyed the cultural programme where many well-known Odia singers enthralled the gathering with popular patriotic Hindi and Odia songs. The event concluded with the recitation of National Anthem of India.
