Telkoi: A village level worker (VLW) of Jagamohanpur, Tarakanta Behera was arrested by police on charges of manhandling and verbally abusing a woman samiti member Puspanjali Apata on Wednesday.

According to reports, Behera allegedly shoved, misbehaved and abused Puspanjali after the latter raked up the issue of irregularities in conduct of gram sabha, work allocation in the panchayat during a meeting.

Besides, Behera allegedly made an audio clip of Apata viral, as per the police complaint filed by her.

“When I asked about signatures on the resolution note book when the meeting was not held, the VLW and the sarpanch manhandled and verbally abused me. I have registered a police complaint,” Apata stated.

Police on the other hand launched manhunt to nab Jagamohanpur sarpanch Jogeswar Pradhan, who is also accused of manhandling the woman samiti member. Pradhan is absconding after the incident.
VLW on the other hand refuted such allegations.

"I have not misbehaved with anyone and all the allegations are baseless," said Behera.
