Samabalpur: Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) junior doctor association (JDA) president Shankar Ramchandani on Sunday alleged that he has been threatened with life threat on phone.

In his complaint lodged in the Burla Police station, Ramachandani said he was on the way to attend to his night duty at about 10.15 PM when he received an anonymous call on his mobile in which the caller abused him with filthy language. He also threatened to kill him for staging strike and demanding strengthening of security in the hospital.

“After receiving the call, I went to the police station when the caller rang me again. At this, I handed over my phone to a driver of the police station and the caller also abused him. Though I tried to call him back, I found that his mobile phone was switched off,” he said.

He said though the Junior doctors have been agitating since last four months for better health service to the patients, receiving such calls is unfortunate.

“JDA is not afraid of such threats and it will continue to agitate till its demands are fulfilled,” Ramchandani said and urged the police for a thorough probe into the incident.

“The caller through his mobile phone number 9776896127 has abused the doctor. Police will register a case and investigate into the incident,” said IIC of Burla Police Station, Tofan Kumar Bag.
