Burla: A doctor of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla was today caught red-handed while working at a private nursing home during his duty hours in Sambalpur.
According to sources, the accused doctor in question was performing ultra sound at Rohini Diagnostic in Burla during his duty hours when he was caught by VIMSAR Director Dr Aswini Kumar Pujahari.
Pujahari had visited the nursing home posing as a patient and video graphed this act of the doctor. After getting caught the doctor apologised for his act saying he will not repeat it in future.
On the other hand VIMSAR Director said that action will be taken by disciplinary committee of the premiere medical institute after a proper probe.
Talking to OTV Pujahari said, "I had found only post graduate students in a particular department in the institute during a visit. I asked them about their consultant doctor and rang him up. He said he was at the market and would return soon. When he did not return for two hours I inquired about him and came to know that he is working at a diagnostic centre. I visited the place as a patient with mask on my face and asked at the registration for an urgent ultrasound. They denied me but I entered the clinic without informing anyone and found the doctor there. He recognised me and said will not repeat it in future."
Pujahari has urged the patients visiting VIMSAR not to fall prey to such doctors who advise them to visit private clinics or nursing homes. He further said that disciplinary committee members will take decision after hearing the version of the concerned doctor as everyone deserves justice.
The accused doctor, BB Panda said, "It was due to my misconception that I was unable to meet the Director on time and I regret for it. I have never disobeyed anyone but I understood that he had called me to meet him tomorrow. I assure that such mistake will not be repeated in future."
