Vigilance to take arrested executive engineer on remand

Cuttack: Vigilance will take arrested executive engineer of General Public Health Dayanidhi Samal on one-day remand.

According to source, a local court allowed the anti-corruption wing of the Odisha Police to take Samal on remand for further interrogation.

On Saturday night, vigilance sleuths had arrested Samal while he was taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contractor to provide him a contract.

After arresting Samal the investigating agency also conducted raids at Samal’s house in Cuttack, his ancestral house and his office and seized Rs 9.3 lakh in cash.

Besides, it also seized gold jewellery, luxury vehicles and gold coins from Samal’s house during the raid.

Sleuths of the agency also found bank deposits worth Rs 25 lakh and three plots worth Rs 1 crore in the name of Samal and his relatives.
