Mohana: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday seized property worth Rs 1.75 crore belonging to arrested Mohana Rural Works division’s Executive Engineer Shiris Sahu.

Sahu was arrested and forwarded to court on Monday on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The anti-corruption wing of Odisha Police also found a three-storied building worth Rs 1 crore in the name of Sahu.

Besides, the investigating agency seized Rs 4.5 lakh in cash during raids at the quarters and houses of the executive engineer.

On Sunday, Vigilance sleuths conducted raids at the official quarters of Sahu in Mohana.

During the raid, the agency seized 150 grams of gold, Rs 3, 24, 500 in cash and some bank bonds during the raid. Besides, the investigating agency also laid their hands on some incriminating documents and bank passbooks during the raid.

On Saturday, Vigilance had raided Sahu’s residence at CDA Sector-10 in Cuttack following seizure of Rs 1 lakh in cash from his car at Bhejiput toll-gate.

A 15-member team, led by Paralakhemundi Vigilance DSP, searched Sahu’s CDA house as well as his Mohana office simultaneously on charges of amassing disproportionate assets. The Vigilance has valued the Cuttack residence of Sahu alone at Rs 1 crore, the sources added.
