Cuttack: The Vigilance department has applied for permission of the court to extend the remand of IPS officer Joydeep Nayak, who has been arrested in connection with a Rs 88 Lakh fraud, by two more days.

Joydeep was produced before the special vigilance court after his 3-day remand ended on Saturday.

Vigilance sleuths had arrested the Tripura-cadre Odia IPS officer from Ghaziabad in connection with siphoning off Rs 88 lakh meant for computer education of SC/ST students and self help groups (SHGs) in Odisha while he was on deputation in the Human Rights Protection Cell (HRPC) of Odisha polic
