Rayagada: Vigilance sleuths raided the Bissamcuttack Block Education Office (BEO) clerk Raj Bahadur Choudhury’s two houses and his office in a disproportionate asset case.

The raid was conducted after the department got vital information on the clerk and his brother Ram Bahadur Choudhury’s involvement in amassing properties disproportionate to their known source of income. Ram Bahadur is working as a teacher in Padampur Bijayanand High School.

According to sources, the anti-corruption wing of the Odisha police seized cash, gold and silver jewelries along with bank passbook during the raid at Raj Bahadur’s houses located at Chalkamba and lane 1 of Niladri Vihar in Gunupur. The BEO office of Gunupur was also searched in the case.

“Raj Bahadur Choudhury who is working as a clerk in Gunupur BEO office and his brother Ram Bahadur Choudhury had been issued search warrants against by Special Vigilance Judge Jeypore in a disproportionate asset case, following which the raids were conducted. Two buildings owned by Raj Bahadur Choudhury was raided,”said Satyaban Mahananda, Vigilance DSP, Nabarangpur.
