Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance today conducted raids on offices of Odisha State Co-operative Marketing Federation Limited (MARKFED) situated at Kalpana Square in Bhubaneswar and at Jaleswar in Balasore district over alleged irregularities.

Raids were also conducted at Regulated Market Committee (RMC) godowns at Attabira and Sambalpur.

During the raids at Bhubaneswar MARKFED office, the registers of the godown, stock and sale details were scrutinised and those were found to have discrepancies.

According to sources, while the godown can accommodate 250 metric tonne fertiliser, records show that currently 648 metric tonne of fertiliser is stocked in the godown. The fertiliser has been placed outside of the godown for inspection by the vigilance team.

Such irregularities cannot have happened without the involvement of senior officials, added sources.

It may be mentioned here that the anti-corruption unit had also conducted raids on Nayagarh branch of MARKFED yesterday, but as a police case had been earlier registered against the godown, vigilance left the case.
