Vigilance finds 11 VIMSAR doctors missing from duty

Sambalpur: Vigilance sleuths today raided the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) and found 11 doctors missing from duty.

Two of them were found working in private clinics while nine others were absent from without taking leave from the authorities, vigilance official said.

The anti-graft agency’s move came after allegations that many doctors are working in private clinics during their duty hours. Four teams of the anti-corruption wing examined the attendance register of the doctors and other supporting staff in various wards of the state-run health institute.

VIMSAR director Sunamali Bag welcomed the move of the vigilance. "The surprise raid by the vigilance will definitely have an impact on the erring doctors. They will think twice before joining private hospital during government duty hour," he said.
