Veteran actress Aparajita Mohanty to join BJP on Feb 19

Bhubaneswar: After Mahasweta Ray, another Ollywood actress Aparajita Mohanty has decided to join the BJP on February 19.

Talking to mediapersons here, Mohanty said "Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a unique personality and his leadership inspires everyone. He has earned respect for the country world over."

Mohanty, who had joined the Congress on February 20, 2014, had also contested unsuccessfully from the Cuttack Lok Sabha seat in 2014 general elections. She resigned from Congress on February 13, 2018.

When asked about her experience in Congress she said, "I joined Congress at a time when the organisation was weak as there was not a single personality who could lead the party. I did not get proper guidance and support and I struggled a lot. Wherever I went, people questioned me what am I doing in the party and even tried to avoid me."

On her defeat in the last election, Aparajita said "I am proud of what I have done."
