Bhubaneswar: Teachers of 12 universities of the State will resort to cease-work from June 1 demanding increase in retirement age to 65, stated the Federation of Odisha University Teachers' Association (FOUTA) on Sunday.

Though the University Grants Commission (UGC) has recommended the Odisha government to raise the retirement age limit for university teachers from 60 to 65, delay in implementation of the recommendation forced them to protest in front of the State Assembly on May 18, the university teachers’ association added.

They added if the demands are not met by the State following the demonstration, the cease-work stir will be observed from June 1 by teachers of all the universities of Odisha.

The association is also demanding filling-up of vacant teaching posts in the universities.
