Varsities in Odisha likely to get skill university status

Bhubaneswar: All varsities in the State are likely to get skill university status. An expert committee under chairmanship of the vice chancellor of the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) has been constituted by the government to look into the applications of varsities applying for skill university status.

A mandatory 16-point guideline has been prepared by the Skill Development & Technical Education department for varsities to get the status.

As per the guidelines, a university should have received the recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) for at least five years. Besides, the university should have provided skill training for five years.

The universities also must have received ‘A’ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to be eligible for skill university status.
